Our story

Vira means faith

The belief that everything worthwhile begins at a table with people you love.

How it began

Two dreams, one table.

The idea for Vira began years ago. Vasyl had dreamed of opening a bistro since he was young. Artem — a celebrated chef and restaurateur in Ukraine — always longed to carry his craft to the United States and open the flavors of the world to a new community.

Artem traveled to America to learn its markets and its people, and found himself captivated by North Carolina — its climate, its abundance, and the long, generous seasons of its farms and orchards. He returned home, and together we began to build both dreams into one. Then the search for a home for Vira began, and it ended on Rogers Branch Road, in Wake Forest.

Why Vira

Vira is what brings people to one table — where conversations, memories, new ideas and friendships are born.

It is trust — in our guests, in our craft, in the quality of our ingredients and the service we give. Vira is the spirit in which we welcome every guest: a place where guests and staff are happy people, every day.

What we stand on
01

Quality first

Local farmers' harvests, the goodness of the season, and the gastronomy of every corner of the world.

02

A fair price

Honest cooking at an honest price — hospitality that never asks you to choose between the two.

03

Love of the craft

For the work, and for the place we do it. It is the reason the room feels the way it does.

Kalyna berries / the dining room
The berry on every plate

A single note of kalyna.

Kalyna — the viburnum berry — runs through Ukrainian song, embroidery and kitchens as the sign of home. You will find it on the plates, and in the red thread through this room.

The rest is Carolina: the produce, the seasons, and the farmers we buy from every week. That is the whole recipe — European craft, Ukrainian roots, local harvest.

Belief · Trust · Inner Strength

Where people gather, hearts connect, and smiles are shared.

Welcome to Vira — a meeting place of happy people.
